Project Information
In 2018, Total Projects approached WPS for assistance with a new challenge, their first ever BREEAM certified project. Tasked with the refurbishment of an existing building on the innovative Milton Park just outside Abingdon, Oxfordshire, they required a Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP), along with several other elements. A learning journey for both parties, fast forward almost 6 years and we have recently completed our 6th BREEAM project together.
Our Story
We were first retained by Total Projects in February 2012, when they required SWMPs for a number of refurbishment projects. When regulations and planning rules changed we were no longer needed, but in November 2018 they contacted us again; they had their first project requiring BREEAM accreditation, which, of course, included a SWMP. When meeting to discuss the project, Total Projects were relieved to discover how much of the BREEAM burden WPS could lighten. Monitoring of waste and resources was handled by WPS using our bespoke software SitePlan, and within 6 weeks of project completion, we were able to deliver a final, compliant SWMP for the project.
As our relationship grew, more and more trust was garnered between both parties and WPS were able to take a more guiding role through the process. By the time of completion of the 6th project in the Spring of 2024, WPS had produced reports for a total of 34 BREEAM criteria across the range of projects, including pre-demolition audits, occupational waste management plans, and handover documentation for the completed buildings.
WPS were also able to assist with Total Projects’ Considerate Constructors Scheme requirements.
