Project Information
WPSCC was recommended to Marldon in 2016 by a BREEAM Assessor, who was sure we could provide them with support to achieve their BREEAM accreditation for a project in the London E1 area. During the course of that project (approximately 2 years) WPSCC helped to produce the Pre-Demolition Audit report and the Site Waste Management Plan and both monitored and managed the Construction Site Impacts. We also supported them in achieving the necessary Considerate Constructors Scheme compliance level. Some time after the project was completed, Marldon approached us for assistance with their next project which had similar requirements. This time we were engaged earlier in the process and were therefore able to provide more balanced support and managerial recommendations, which included producing an Environmental Management System which could be used for all future projects that required BREEAM accreditation.
Our Story
When WPSCC was first introduced to Marldon they were trying to achieve BREEAM accreditation on a construction project for the first time. At that point they had a list of requirements, which WPSCC fully satisfied during the course of the project. Unfortunately, in that instance, it was more a question of ‘fire-fighting’ than preparing a long-term strategy. However, having achieved success on that first project, we were invited to provide input to the next at a much earlier stage. This meant a more holistic approach to compliance and the future was possible, which resulted in additional protocols being produced, such as a Sustainable Procurement Plan and an Environmental Management System, which could easily be adapted for use on any future projects, thus showing longer-term cost savings.
Conclusion
The earlier WPSCC is engaged in a project or process, the more value we can add.
