Waste Classification: WM3 Virtual Training

Waste Classification: WM3 Virtual Training

Our Waste Classification: WM3 virtual training is a blended training course which combines live tutor led sessions over Zoom and online learning activities. This will ensure delegates understand how to correctly use the list of wastes, as found in the current version of the Waste Classification Technical Guidance – WM3. Identifying the appropriate code is vital for compliance with your Waste Duty of Care and is also the first step in waste classification. It is applicable to:

  • Any size of organisation
  • Anyone who needs to ensure that waste is appropriately coded using a 6-digit waste code
  • Waste producers, regulators, consultants, waste carriers, waste permit holders

Ensuring compliance with Duty of Care can benefit you by ensuring you are thinking about the most cost effect and most sustainable way of managing your waste. If that isn’t incentive enough, it also enables you to demonstrate that you have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that your waste is handled safely and legally throughout by everyone. Thus, avoiding reputational damage and hefty fines (or worse!).

The Waste Classification: WM3 Virtual training course covers the following:

  • Where to find the list of wastes
  • How the 6-digit codes are made up
  • The hierarchy for using the chapters
  • When it is appropriate to use a 99 code
  • What it means if the code is for an absolute hazardous, absolute non-hazardous or mirror entry
  • Awareness of hazard properties
  • Understand when further assessment is required
  • Example of simple hazardous waste classification process
  • Know where to find further technical guidance
  • Opportunity to practice using the list of wastes
